Andrea Picchioni is a family-owned estate in Valle Solinga, Canneto Pavese, in Lombardy’s Oltrepò Pavese. Founded in 1988 through the recovery of particularly suited vineyards, it is owned and operated by Andrea Picchioni, with oenologist Giuseppe Zatti involved since 1995. The steep, south-facing vineyards, reaching gradients of up to 45%, lie on sandy, pebbly soils and include high-hill vines used for the flagship Buttafuoco wines. Farming is organic or in conversion to organic, though not formally certified, with low-intervention practices including manure fertilization, recycling pomace and pruning material, woodland preservation, and careful water use. Manual harvesting and grape selection support a terroir-focused approach that prioritizes sustainability and quality over volume. The wines have received recognition from Slow Wine, Gambero Rosso, AIS Lombardia, and Vitae.
