Founded in the early 1980s by António Esteves Monteiro, Quinta das Arcas is a family-run producer based in Minho’s Vinho Verde region, also making wines in Alentejo through Herdade Penedo Gordo. The family manages its vineyards under environmentally responsible Integrated Pest Management, released its first certified organic wine in 2012, and emphasizes quality with minimal environmental impact. Vinho Verde vineyards include mature vines on varied granitic and schist soils, with grapes hand-picked at low yields according to the estate notes. The on-site winery, bottling and storage facilities support both estates. Its wines focus on the fresh, light character associated with Vinho Verde, alongside more structured premium cuvées in the Family Collection. The founder describes the work as dedicated, persistent and in harmony with nature.
