Piri Naturel is a family-owned estate in Burg Layen in Germany’s Nahe region, run by winemaker Christine Pieroth, whose family history on the property dates to 1781. The estate focuses on regenerative agriculture and biodynamic practices, with agroforestry elements such as trees, hedges, and bushes, no irrigation, and low-input Piwi varieties including Calardis Blanc, Souvignier Gris, Regent, and Sauvitage. These grapes require only 2–3 sprays per year, helping reduce tractor use, soil compaction, and diesel consumption while supporting biodiversity, wildlife habitat, and carbon sequestration. In the cellar, Piri Naturel works with wild yeast, no fining or filtration, and minimal sulfur. No formal certifications are noted.
