Loxarel is a family-rooted winery in Vilobí del Penedès, owned and operated by winemaker Josep Mitjans. Its vineyards have been farmed organically since 2002 and biodynamically since 2005, following lunar cycles and using natural preparations, manual harvesting, mechanical weed control and respect pruning. The project emphasizes landscape expression, local varieties and minimal-intervention winemaking, including a line of natural wines without added sulfites. Loxarel helped revive clay amphora fermentation, first used for its Xarel·lo in 2013. Sparkling wines under DO Clàssic Penedès undergo second fermentation and aging in a historic Spanish Civil War air-raid shelter at the Can Mayol estate. Xarel·lo, red Xarel·lo, Garnacha, Macabeo and Parellada are among its key varieties.
