José Piteira is a boutique, artisanal producer in Amareleja, Alentejo, owned by José Piteira through Encostas de Alqueva LDA and operating within the Abegoaria group. The wines come from an old-vine Moreto plot and are made using traditional talha clay-jar fermentation, with manual, low-energy techniques. Vineyard management follows an integrated-protection approach, using limited pest management. José Piteira leads the winemaking, supported by a team of quality-focused winemakers, with production centered on a distinctive, hands-on expression of the region.
