Domaine La Calmette

France

Founded in 2016 in France’s Sud-Ouest, Domaine La Calmette is owned and operated by Maya Sallée and Nicolas Fernandez. The estate is certified organic (AB) and biodynamic (Demeter), with regenerative practices including minimal soil disturbance, natural mulches, earthworm habitats and carbon sequestration. Its vineyards include a flagship single-vineyard parcel of mature vines planted on iron-rich clay over Kimmeridgian limestone and marl. Winemaking is deliberately minimal-intervention, relying on ambient yeasts, concrete tanks for lees ageing, stainless steel and old barrels, with light filtration and very low sulfur. The domaine’s wines reflect a hands-off, site-conscious approach led directly by its founders.
