Clos de l’Abbaye is a small, family-run Bourgueil estate in the Loire Valley, centered on a single parcel within the former Benedictine Abbey of Bourgueil. The Lorieux family has managed the vineyard since 1975, with Jérémy and Faustine Lorieux now continuing the work. Its nearly 7 hectares are planted mainly to Cabernet Franc, with vines reported at approximately 30 to 95 years old, on deep flint gravel protected by surrounding walls. The vineyard has been farmed organically since 1997–1998 and follows a biodynamic cultivation philosophy. Jérémy cultivates and vinifies the wines with respect for inherited traditions, while also developing distinctive cuvées through less conventional fermentation and ageing methods. The estate produces a rich, typical Bourgueil Rouge.
