Château de Pierreux

France

Château de Pierreux is a historic Beaujolais estate in Odenas, facing Mont Brouilly, and owned by the Boisset family wine group. Its vineyards are planted to Gamay on shallow, well-drained granite, schist, flint and volcanic blue-porphyry soils. Vineyard work follows a vineyard-by-vineyard lutte raisonnée approach, limiting chemical use and protecting vine and soil health; the estate has held HVE certification since 2020 and uses trellising, grassed rows and cordon pruning. Winemaking is led by Jean-Baptiste Bachevillier and Florent Georger, with traditional wooden vats retained in the cellars. The estate’s Brouilly wines are made for ageing, combining rich tannins with smoothness; the fuller Grande Réserve comes only from the best plots and oldest vines in the finest years. The property itself retains elements of a fortified manor dating to the 13th century.
