Barone di Valforte

Italy

Barone di Valforte is a family-owned Abruzzo estate in the Teramo hills, between the Adriatic Sea and the Gran Sasso massif. The Sorricchio family has owned the property since the 14th century, with Francesco and Guido Sorricchio and Annamaria Sorricchio di Valforte continuing its stewardship today. The vineyards are managed without herbicides or pesticides under sustainable agriculture protocols, with attention to soil biodiversity; Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Organic is certified organic. The estate focuses on native Abruzzese varieties, including Trebbiano, Cerasuolo and Montepulciano, aiming for refined, elegant wines. Traditional winemaking is combined with temperature-controlled technology, while French barriques and tonneaux are used in an 18th-century cellar. A photovoltaic system further supports the estate’s environmental approach.
