Producer

Angelo Gaja

Italy

Historic family-owned Italian estate founded in 1859, Gaja is led by fourth-generation owner Angelo Gaja, with winemaking shared with his daughter Gaia and broader family management alongside Gaia and Rossana. Though based in Piedmont, the estate also has important holdings in Tuscany, including Montalcino and Bolgheri. The style is defined by low-yield viticulture, single-vineyard focus, barrique and Burgundian oak aging, and a terroir-driven approach across Barbaresco, Barolo, Brunello di Montalcino and Super Tuscan wines. In Montalcino, vineyards span the south-west of the appellation on calcareous-clay and Galestro soils, including sites such as Sugarille and Rennina.
