Tenuta di Valgiano

Italy

Tenuta di Valgiano is a family-run estate in the Colline Lucchesi near Lucca, owned by Moreno Petrini and Laura di Collobiano since the early 1990s, with winemaking led by Petrini and enologist Saverio Petrilli. Considered a pioneer of biodynamics in the area, the estate moved from organic farming in the late 1990s to certified biodynamic viticulture in the early 2000s, with Demeter and organic certification noted. Vineyards on the Lucchesi hills benefit from altitude, sea breezes and Apennine influence, with marl, sandstone and limestone-rich soils. The approach is artisanal and low-intervention: hand harvest, spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts, minimal sulfites, and careful work to preserve soil vitality and biodiversity. The estate also produces olive oil and honey.
