Stark-Condé Wines

South Africa

Stark-Condé is a family-run boutique winery in Stellenbosch’s Jonkershoek Valley, led by owner-winemaker José Conde. The estate practices organic farming and is certified sustainable through South Africa’s Integrated Production of Wine program. Its vineyards include varied elevations, high-altitude single-vineyard sites, and historic parcels such as Jan Lui’s Field, where grapes have been grown for more than 350 years. The winery focuses on limited, site-specific wines made from estate grapes, using traditional, minimally interventionist methods: natural-yeast fermentation, barrel fermentation and lees stirring where appropriate, and often no fining or filtration. The multicultural family remains closely involved, with the next generation helping on weekends. Stark-Condé also operates the on-site Postcard Café and restaurant.
