Domaine des Gandines is a family-run estate in Clessé, in Burgundy’s southern Mâconnais, founded by Joseph Dananchet in 1925. Benjamin, Robert, and Florent Dananchet work together to produce Chardonnay wines with respect for terroir and the living environment. The vineyards have been farmed organically since 2005, certified organic in 2009, and conducted biodynamically since 2012, without chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. Work includes ploughing by tractor and horse, on-site composting, plant teas, limited copper and sulfur, and lunar-cycle practices. Harvesting is entirely manual. Whole grapes are slowly pressed, parcels are vinified separately, and natural fermentations take place in stainless steel, foudre, oak barrels, or demi-muids. Wines are aged for 12 to 24 months, with cuvée- and vintage-dependent bâtonnage.
