Founded in 1911 in Reggio Emilia, Emilia-Romagna, Ca’ De’ Medici remains a family-owned winery, now guided by the fourth and fifth generations of the Medici family. Under owner-winemaker Alberto Medici, the estate focuses on Lambrusco and regional sparkling wines, selecting grapes from leading crus and emphasizing low yields. Its wines combine traditional methods—including long, slow, low-temperature fermentation and extended lees ageing—with modern sparkling-wine technology. The winery’s portfolio ranges from traditional Lambrusco Reggiano DOC to more contemporary expressions, with a particular interest in native varieties such as Spergola. Ca’ De’ Medici has also invested in sustainability through a photovoltaic system designed to supply much of its energy needs, while cold conditioning helps preserve wines without chemical additives. In 2006, it acquired the historic Caprari winery in the Reggio Emilia hills.
