Founded in Madeira in 1946 by Mario Barbeito, Barbeito remains family-owned and is run by his descendants and partners. Chief winemaker Ricardo Freitas oversees the process from grape selection through bottling. The producer specializes in very small-lot, handcrafted Madeiras sourced from historic vineyards, combining traditional methods with experimental blends.
