Quinta de São Sebastião is an historic estate in Arruda dos Vinhos, Lisbon, dating from the 18th century and centred on a Portuguese manor house and secular hermitage. Its mostly hillside vineyards lie in a Mediterranean climate strongly influenced by the Atlantic, on limestone, marl, clay and sandstone soils, with maritime air, varied slopes and altitudes contributing freshness and salinity. Owned by António Parente since the 1980s and managed by Francisco Melícias, the estate works with winemaker Filipe Sevinate Pinto, who has guided the project since 2012. The wines combine Portuguese varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Arinto and Cercial with Syrah, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc. The stated approach is simple, minimally interventionist winemaking focused on expressing Arruda dos Vinhos’ identity. Environmental measures include photovoltaic power, cork insulation, lightweight bottles, recycled packaging and natural cork stoppers.
