Founded in 1974 and owned by the Masaveu family, Bodegas Murua is based in Elciego in Rioja Alavesa. It works exclusively with estate-owned vineyards across 51 plots, using low yields, old vines, and varied orientations and terroirs to express the character of its sites. The vineyards are certified organic, carry the Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection seal, and are managed with regenerative practices focused on soil health and carbon capture. Murua combines a classic Rioja identity with innovation, high self-demand, and control from grape to bottle. Its wines reflect clayey-calcareous soils, elevated vineyards, and a Mediterranean climate influenced by the Atlantic.
