Château Le Virou

France

Château Le Virou is a Bordeaux estate acquired by Pierre Jean Larraqué in 2013, with rehabilitation of its historic sites beginning in 2015. Its clay-limestone vineyards are planted mainly to Merlot, with Cabernet Franc, and are certified High Environmental Value (HVE) Level 3. The estate uses cover crops, biological pest control, mechanical soil cultivation, and has eliminated CMR products since 2016. Grapes are mechanically harvested and sorted onboard, while vinification uses external thermoregulation. The wines reflect a Merlot-led Bordeaux style shaped by clay-limestone soils.
