Château du Tertre is a historic Margaux estate, classified as a Fifth Growth in 1855, with roots said to date back to the 12th century. Its vineyard sits on gravelly, sandy soils with clay subsoils, and the estate has undertaken detailed soil studies and replanting since 2008. Farming emphasizes parcel expression, with biodynamic viticulture reported across most of the vineyard, plus hedgerows and habitats planted to support biodiversity. Harvesting is manual with optical sorting, and vinification is carried out parcel by parcel in concrete, stainless steel, and wood, with élevage averaging 16 months in barrel. After the Albada Jelgersma era, the property was sold in 2021 to a French institutional investor and is now managed by the Helfrich family, with Alexander van Beek and Menahem Israilevich involved in winemaking.
