Château du Cèdre is a family-owned estate in Cahors, in France’s Sud-Ouest, founded by the Verhaeghe family in the 1950s and now led by brothers Pascal and Jean-Marc Verhaeghe, with the third generation joining the domaine. Its vineyards lie across three parcels on limestone scree and ancient alluvial terraces, farmed organically since the early 1990s and certified organic since 2012. Chemical weedkillers were abandoned in 1992, rows are grassed, and much of the vine work is done by hand. In the cellar, the estate focuses on precise, low-intervention winemaking: indigenous yeasts, no added sulphites, and élevage without oenological inputs. The wines are centered on Malbec, aiming for finesse, aromatic complexity, depth, and freshness.
