Burn Cottage is a family-owned estate in Central Otago, founded by Marquis and Dianne Sauvage after they bought the site in 2002. The vineyard is certified biodynamic and organic, with farming centered on biodiversity through estate-made compost, biodynamic preparations, native plantings, olive groves, and integrated livestock, chickens, and beehives. Burn Cottage is best known for premium Pinot Noir, with Ted Lemon serving as head winemaker and vineyard manager and Claire Mulholland also involved in winemaking. The estate’s approach emphasizes careful farming and a holistic vineyard ecosystem.
