Angelo Rivano runs a micro-estate on Sant’Antioco in Sardinia, where he personally farms and makes the wine. His single hectare of own-rooted Carignano, planted in 1982 on silica-rich sandy soils naturally free of phylloxera, is managed sustainably, without noted formal certification. The estate produces just one wine, Carignano del Sulcis “Intrigu”, from 100% Carignano. It undergoes a six-month maceration in stainless steel followed by three months of bottle aging, with no oak. Production is extremely limited, reflecting a focused, hands-on approach to the island’s traditional variety.
