Spain

Ostatu is a family-owned winery in Samaniego, at the heart of Rioja Alavesa, directed by Mariasun Sáenz de Samaniego Berganzo with her brothers Gonzalo and Iñigo. The Sáenz de Samaniego family has cultivated this land since the 16th century. Its own vineyards are divided into 50 micro-plots on clay-limestone soils, shaped by the Sierra de Cantabria and a meeting point of Atlantic and Mediterranean influences. Certified organic by ENEEK, Ostatu combines cover crops, biodiversity refuges and regenerative practices with a philosophy of observing more and intervening less. The wines are intended to express the identity of individual sites, including the Singular Vineyards El Portillo and Revillas, balancing tradition with careful innovation in the winery.
