Contesa is a family-owned winery in Abruzzo’s Vestina hills near Penne, with vineyards in Collecorvino and surrounding villages. Founded by winemaker Rocco Pasetti, it continues a family winemaking tradition dating to 1903 and is now run with his sons, Franco and Pierpaolo. The family farms its vineyards organically and regeneratively, focusing on native varieties including Montepulciano, Pecorino, Trebbiano, Passerina, and Cococciola. Its philosophy is rooted in understanding its origins, caring for the land, and preserving tradition as a guide for the future. “Good wine is made in the vineyard” is central to the approach, combining patience and careful vineyard work with innovative systems in a cellar built into the hillside. Tours and tastings are offered at the estate.
