Cantina Colterenzio

Colterenzio is a cooperative winery in Girlan, Eppan, South Tyrol, founded in 1960 by 26 winegrowers and now supported by 300 member families. Their vineyards span 230–650 metres across Eppan, Girlan, Gries, Siebeneich, Bolzano and Salorno, with varied soils and an Alpine-Mediterranean climate. The cooperative emphasizes healthy, hand-harvested grapes, lower yields and careful vineyard work; notes also describe sustainable and organic farming among its growers. Luis Raifer’s pioneering work in the 1980s, particularly at the Lafóa vineyard, helped establish new quality standards in Alto Adige. Wines range from fresh, varietal bottlings aged in stainless steel or concrete to selection and cru wines made from low-yielding sites and matured in wood. Gravity-flow handling, gentle membrane pressing and attentive cellar work preserve varietal and site character.
