Brunello Tornesi

Italy

Brunello Tornesi is a family-owned Montalcino estate in Tuscany, run by Maurizio Tornesi, his wife and daughters, with Elisa Tornesi taking an increasing role in winemaking. The family has farmed since 1865, with vineyards registered for Brunello in 1967 and commercial production started by Maurizio in the 1990s. The estate grows only Sangiovese on galestro and stone soils in the Benducce and Castelnuovo dell’Abate areas, at varied elevations that contribute both structure and elegance. Farming follows organic principles, with organic fertilisers, no herbicides, and all vineyard and winery work done by hand. In the cellar, Maurizio and Elisa favor a traditional, low-intervention approach using native yeasts and minimal oak.
