Producer

Bodegas Cosme Palacio

Spain

Founded in Laguardia in 1894, Cosme Palacio is a historic Rioja Alavesa producer and one of Rioja’s modern pioneers. Its wines are rooted in 100% Laguardia fruit from high-altitude, south-facing vineyards on calcareous-clay soils, including old, low-yielding vines protected by the Sierra de Cantabria. The winery combines respect for terroir and founder Cosme Palacio’s legacy with French oak and contemporary techniques, seeking fruit-forward wines marked by elegance and balance. Family-controlled Entrecanales Domecq e Hijos emphasizes innovation, transparency, and environmental responsibility, using renewable electricity, pursuing regenerative viticulture, and holding Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection certification. Winemaking has involved Almudena Alberca, Txomin Garramiola, and Michel Rolland.
