Weingut Kerpen is a family-owned Mosel estate cultivated by the Kerpen family for nine generations since 1803, now run by winemaker and owner Matthias Kerpen with co-owner Vivien Kerpen. The vineyards lie on steep, slate-rich slopes, including Graacher Himmelreich, Graacher Domprobst, Bernkasteler Bratenhöfchen and Wehlener Sonnenuhr, and are planted entirely or almost entirely to Riesling. Winemaking combines tradition with modern monitoring, hand-picked grapes, wooden-barrel fermentation and minimal intervention. The estate is developing its focus on sustainability, though no organic or biodynamic certification is noted. Its historic Art Nouveau villa includes a natural slate cellar, tasting room and seasonal Riesling-Café.
