Weingut Josef Ehmoser

Austria

Weingut Josef Ehmoser is a family-run estate in Tiefenthal, in Austria’s eastern Wagram, where Josef and Martina Ehmoser continue a three-generation tradition. The vineyards lie on the region’s characteristic loess soils, including the ÖTW Erste Lagen Ried Hohenberg and Ried Georgenberg. Certified sustainable since 2018 and organic since the 2022/2023 vintage, the estate farms without herbicides or irrigation, using grass cover, pheromone moth control, solar energy and extensive hand labor. All grapes are hand-harvested. The winery focuses on regional varieties, especially Grüner Veltliner and Weißer Burgunder, and has revived a traditional eight-variety Gemischter Satz. Its wines are described as deliberate, linear, vibrant and pure, expressing the Wagram’s soils, climate and regional character.
