Tenuta Fanti

Tenuta Fanti is a historic family estate in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, Montalcino, owned by the Fanti family since 1800. Filippo Fanti established the winery in the early 1970s, transitioning from sharecropping to wine production with the first Brunello vintage in 1980. Today, he works alongside daughters Elisa—an agronomist who led the estate's conversion to certified organic agriculture in 2021—and Elena. The property encompasses vineyards on galestro-rich slopes near the Abbey of Sant'Antimo, producing Brunello, Rosso, and Sant'Antimo wines guided by consulting oenologist Paolo Vagaggini. The family cultivates ancient olive varieties including 200-year-old Olivastra trees, maintains traditional Vin Santo production, and practices sustainable farming with grassing, green manure, and lightweight glass bottles, reflecting their deep attachment to the land.
