Shelter Winery is a family-run estate in Baden, founded in 2003 by husband-and-wife team Hans-Bert Espe and Silke Wolf, who also handle the winemaking themselves. Based in North Baden near the Kaiserstuhl, the winery focuses exclusively on Pinot Noir. Farming is organic in practice, with no herbicides or pesticides, and grapes are hand-harvested. In the cellar, they follow a low-intervention approach, including native-yeast fermentations, to produce natural, vegan wines. A solar-powered facility reinforces the estate’s sustainability-minded ethos.
