Pian delle Querci

Italy

Pian delle Querci is a fourth-generation family estate of the Pinti family in Montalcino, Tuscany, with winemaking led by Vittorio Pinti. The vineyards lie on the northern slopes of Montalcino at around 250–350 meters, on clay-rich, stony, well-draining soils suited to Sangiovese. Farming is traditional and herbicide-free, with manual or mechanical soil work, organic fertilizer or compost, and treatments based on copper, lime, and sulfur; the estate has no formal sustainability certification. In the cellar, the approach is equally classical: long, slow fermentations in stainless steel with native yeasts, followed by aging in large Slavonian oak barrels. The range centers on Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino, and Sant’Antimo, with an emphasis on low yields, elegance, and fidelity to the territory.
