Producer

Greenock Creek

Australia

Founded in 1984 by Michael and Annabelle Waugh, Greenock Creek is a family-owned boutique winery on the western edge of South Australia’s Barossa Valley. It produces single-vineyard Shiraz and other reds from the Marananga and Seppeltsfield sub-regions, with a focus on old-vine, low-yield, dry-farmed vineyards. Hand-picking, basket pressing and site-specific winemaking aim to express differences in slope, elevation, aspect and the region’s varied ancient soils. The wines are deeply coloured, richly flavoured and long-lived, ranging from plush and silky to earthy and structured. Since Alex Peel joined as chief winemaker in 2018, vineyard and cellar practices have been refined while retaining the producer’s traditional, artisanal character.
