Gianfranco Alessandria

Italy

Gianfranco Alessandria is a family-owned estate in Monforte d’Alba, Piedmont, run by Gianfranco, his wife Bruna, and daughters Marta and Vittoria, who are all involved in winemaking. With roots in the family dating back to the 1950s and Gianfranco at the helm since 1986, the winery focuses on native varieties including Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto, with vineyards in Monforte d’Alba and Bussia San Giovanni. Farming and cellar work follow a natural, low-intervention approach, with manual vineyard work, hand harvesting, reduced yields, spontaneous fermentations, and minimal sulfur and copper use, aiming to farm as organically as possible without formal certification. The wines are made with careful grape selection, temperature-controlled fermentations, and aging in small oak barrels.
