Clara Sala

Italy

Clara and Annamaria Sala run Tenuta di Gorghi Tondi, an all-women, organic winery in Mazara del Vallo, western Sicily. Their farm lies within the WWF Gorghi Tondi and Preola Lake Nature Reserve, surrounded by a bird sanctuary. The sisters cultivate native varieties including Grillo and Zibibbo without chemicals or GMOs, using certified organic, hand-harvested and hand-crafted methods. The Sicilia Bianco is made from a single Grillo parcel, with vegan wines produced in small batches. The operation, split from the historic Cantine Pellegrino, emphasizes natural and sustainable practices.
