Château Haut-Bages Libéral

France

Château Haut-Bages Libéral is a Pauillac Fifth Growth in Bordeaux, with vineyards on the Bages plateau and in parcels beside Château Latour, on gravel, clay and limestone soils. Originally in the Liberal family, then the Cruse family, the estate was sold to the Taillan Group in 1983 and is now run by Claire Villars-Lurton and Gonzague Lurton. Certified organic since 2019 and biodynamic (Demeter) since 2021, the property follows a regenerative approach with agroforestry, agroecology, hedgerows, tree planting, cover crops and low-yield viticulture. Winemaking is led by Claire and Gonzague Lurton, with Thomas Bontemps and consultant Eric Boissenot.
