Rocca di Frassinello

Rocca di Frassinello is a relatively young estate in Tuscany’s Maremma hills, founded as a joint venture between Paolo Panerai’s Castellare di Castellina and Domaines Barons de Rothschild-Lafite. The estate focuses on Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Vermentino, with production centered in a Renzo Piano-designed cellar. Farming is conventional rather than organic, but the property emphasizes forest preservation and biodiversity. Gabriele Gorelli, Italy’s first Master of Wine, has served as a winemaking consultant, adding further distinction to the estate’s winemaking approach.
