IOPPA is a long-established family estate in Romagnano Sesia, Alto Piemonte, founded in 1852 and now run by the seventh generation. Based in the Ghemme DOCG and Colline Novaresi DOC area, it farms hillside vineyards with south-west exposure on mixed clay, sand, and pebble soils, focusing on native grapes such as Nebbiolo and Vespolina. Vineyard work follows an eco-compatible, integrated approach, including early leaf removal, organic fertilization, mechanical under-row cleaning, and targeted low-impact treatments. In the cellar, IOPPA combines renewed facilities with respect for local tradition and terroir, using indigenous yeasts and long aging for key wines including Ghemme and its cru bottlings. The estate also has a strong historical link to the development of Ghemme, with family members involved in the denomination’s recognition.
