Château Pontoise Cabarrus

France

Château Pontoise Cabarrus is a family-run Cru Bourgeois Supérieur estate in Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, Haut-Médoc, near the Gironde estuary and Saint-Estèphe. The Tereygeol family has managed the property since 1959, continuing a history that reaches back nearly three centuries. Its vineyards, planted on gravel and clay-limestone soils, are devoted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, with vines averaging 40 years old. The estate practices reasoned, environmentally respectful viticulture, including biodiversity measures, no herbicides and HVE certification. Winemaking is traditional and precise, with controlled fermentations, pump-overs and 12 months in French oak; consulting oenologists include Eric Boissenot and Édouard Lambert. The red wines combine black-fruit character, supple tannins and aging potential, while younger-vine cuvées are rounder and more approachable. The estate also welcomes visitors for tours and tastings.
