Château Mauvesin Barton

France

Château Mauvesin Barton is a family-owned estate in Moulis-en-Médoc, acquired by the Barton Sartorius family in 2011 and restored under their hands. Lilian Barton Sartorius oversees the château, while winemaking is led by her daughter Mélanie Barton-Sartorius, the first qualified oenologist in the Barton family, alongside Bruno Petit and consultant Éric Boissenot. The estate emphasizes environmental protection, with some vines farmed organically and broader use of integrated agriculture. On Moulis soils of clay-limestone, gravel and sand, the team vinifies plots separately in temperature-controlled vats, handles fruit gently by gravity, and ages the wines in French oak, aiming for quality and a clear expression of terroir.
