Château Carlmagnus is a family-owned Fronsac estate in Bordeaux, created in 1998 by Arnaud Roux-Oulié, a third-generation winegrower. Named after Charlemagne, the property is rooted in the limestone plateau and clay-limestone soils of Fronsac. Arnaud oversees the estate, with winemaking guided by Stéphane Derenoncourt and Hannah Fiegenschuh. The wines are made with whole-berry sorting, fermented in wooden vats, and aged for 12–14 months in barrel with a moderate proportion of new oak. The estate has farmed organically since 2020. Carlmagnus has grown into a noted Fronsac property, while remaining closely identified with Arnaud’s personal vision, including the labels he has painted himself since the 2018 vintage.
