Cellers de Scala Dei

Spain

Cellers de Scala Dei is a historic estate in Escaladei, at the foot of the Montsant Natural Park in Priorat. Its vineyards lie at altitude on slate and clay soils, with a strong focus on Grenache. The property remains owned by four of the original founding families, alongside a shareholding held by Raventós Codorníu, and operates from a 17th-century monastic cellar. Farming is organic and sustainable, without herbicides or pesticides; vineyards are harvested by hand, fermented separately and the wines are organic and vegan. Winemaking is led by Diego Tamburini with veteran winemaker Ricard Rofes, combining traditional methods with a detailed focus on individual vineyard expression.
