Pegasus Bay

New Zealand

Pegasus Bay is a family-owned estate in Waipara, North Canterbury, founded in 1985 by Ivan and Christine Donaldson and still run by the Donaldson family, with Matthew Donaldson as winemaker. Its vineyards lie on the heat-retaining Glasnevin Gravels of the Teviotdale Range, producing low-yield, concentrated fruit. The estate emphasizes minimal-intervention winemaking alongside sustainable farming and long-term environmental and social responsibility, though without formal certification. Pegasus Bay is particularly known for complex, aged-release Rieslings, and also produces the Pegasus Bay and Main Divide ranges, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and other varieties.
