Paterna is a modest, independently owned Tuscan estate founded in the 1970s by Marco Noferi, who remains its owner. Based in Tuscany, it works primarily with indigenous varieties including Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino, Trebbiano and Malvasia. The estate has been organically certified since 1985—among Italy’s early organic farms—and follows low-intervention, natural winemaking practices. Alongside wine, it produces olive oil, strawberries and seasonal vegetables. Its commitment to sustainability extends to a social agriculture program employing people with disabilities, giving the estate a distinctly community-minded character.
