Producer

Catena Appellation

Argentina

Founded in Mendoza in 1902 by Italian immigrant Nicola Catena, Catena Appellation remains family-owned, with the Catena family’s children and grandchildren continuing its work. The producer focuses on high-altitude vineyards in the Andes, including sites reaching approximately 1,500 metres, and preserves ancient, biodiverse plant selections. Alejandro Vigil has served as Chief Winemaker of Bodega Catena Zapata since 2002. Its wines reflect Mendoza’s distinctive mountain vineyards and a long-standing commitment to site-focused cultivation. No formal sustainability certifications are identified in the available information.
