Casa Piena is a family-inspired estate winery in Yountville, Napa Valley, founded by Gail and Carmen Policy. Its eastern-bench vineyard, planted in 1998 and dry-farmed since 2005, is dedicated entirely to Cabernet Sauvignon and benefits from varied soils, a distinctive microclimate, and meticulous, responsibly sustainable farming. Thomas Rivers Brown has made the wines since the inaugural vintage, applying a non-interventionist, terroir-focused approach that balances fruit, earth, nuance, power, and depth. The estate’s philosophy combines old-world development with new-world team building, while its family identity is reflected in the name—Italian for “full house”—and in vineyard blocks named for the Policies’ five children.
