Hewitson is a family-owned boutique winery in South Australia’s Barossa Valley, founded in 1998 by Dean Hewitson, who remains owner and chief winemaker. The estate works with fruit from its Mother Vine Shiraz vineyard and long-term grower sites across Barossa, McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills and Eden Valley, including historic dry-grown pre-phylloxera vineyards such as the 1853 Old Garden Mourvèdre. The winery is certified by Sustainable Winegrowing Australia and follows organic viticulture, with solar power, recycled cleaning water, rainwater reuse, mulching, replanting of river red gums, and a strong focus on soil health and biodiversity. Hewitson’s style is modern Australian wine shaped by European techniques and minimalist intervention.
