Valle Reale is a family-owned estate in Abruzzo, set among the region’s protected mountain parks between Popoli and Capestrano. Founded by Leonardo Pizzolo in the late 1990s, it grew from the recovery of an old Montepulciano vineyard and remains rooted in mountain agriculture, biodiversity, and careful observation of each site. The estate focuses on cru bottlings of native Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, shaped by distinct soils, exposures, and strong day-night temperature shifts. Since 2007–08, Valle Reale has relied on indigenous yeasts and spontaneous fermentations to express place, alongside organic and biodynamic farming, no conventional chemicals, and a broader agricultural project that includes a biodynamic garden and preservation of local cultivars. A restored historic Benedictine cellar further connects the estate to the area’s long wine tradition.
