Margins Wine

Margins Wine is a California small-batch natural wine project founded, owned, and made by Megan Bell. Working with northern and central California growers, Margins focused on supporting organic and regenerative farming, helping vineyards transition to organics and, by 2021, sourcing entirely from organically farmed sites. The project also co-farms Makjavich Vineyard with Larry Makjavich, on the site of the eighth registered organic farm in the USA. Winemaking emphasizes hand-harvested fruit, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, no fining or filtration, and low added SO2. Organized as a horizontal collective, Margins paired its environmental focus with equity and inclusion in the wine industry. The winery is slated to cease production in 2026 due to financial pressures.
