Sordo Giovanni is a fourth-generation family estate in Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of Piedmont’s Barolo zone, founded in 1912 by Giuseppe Sordo. Over time the family expanded its holdings across leading Barolo communes, and today produces eight Barolo crus alongside other Langhe and Roero wines. The house focuses on expressing terroir, combining traditional Barolo methods such as long macerations and aging in large Slavonian oak casks with a deep underground cellar for slow, controlled maturation. Farming is described as sustainable and low-input, with cover crops, no chemical fertilizers or herbicides, limited sulfur and copper treatments, and wastewater treated through a phytopurification system. The wines are presented in a classic style marked by structure, harmony, complexity, and long aging potential.
